Refinement of a soon-to-launch magazine’s brand identity.

THE BRIEF
Restructure, enhance and polish the first draft of a newly-established magazine to make it publication ready.

MY VISION
By building off the magazine’s strong foundation, I created compelling layouts to make better use of the quarterly edition’s content, particularly from a design perspective.

EXECUTION
I got started by setting up a flexible and well considered grid to create overall design consistency and improve aesthetics. Master pages (templates) were developed for each common element and article type, and were then applied to every layout. These initial changes produced a clear organization and enhanced the legibility and readability. Fonts were reviewed and paired down, while providing a variety of combinations to be used, especially calling attention to the headlines to engage readers. The cover and table of contents were further simplified with a subtle design to further reflect the content and brand identity that the magazine encompasses. And finally, after familiarizing myself with the content, I amended the structure to make it easier to navigate and provide a better flow to the publication.
